Find the source of your stress, and stay away from it. Or you could continue to fight your body with chemicals, and find your way to an early grave.

my sister has this condition also, some times she is able to control it, by holding her breath and bearing down as if she were constipated, it doesn't always work but helps alot of the time.

Seems to me that you need to see a Heart Specialist.
Just as a guess, You may have Atrial Fibrillation, but then,
all those Doctors should have figured out what is wrong by now. You may get blood clots from this.
You may need a pacemaker or some other device.
As an EMT, you should have access to someone who can
tell you the problem. This Forum is not the place to look for
treatment of your problem.

Wow!!! Mine didn't last as long as yours. I went to 180 and it lasted for about 4 hours. It has happened for short times before and after but not over a few minutes. I have been to doctors and they found that my t4 t3 whatever was down a little (can't remember now which it was) I went to a heart specialist and they put one of those portable monitors on me for 24 hours. My rate went up to 180 but only 10 minutes on two occasions, one of which I ran real fast on a treadmill just to see what would happen. The heart guy said my heart is fine. The general doctor said I had a slightly low good cholesterol... otherwise as healthy a 49 year old as he's seen. My second blood test showed all my thyroid number normal (no low t4.. etc..) Which they didn't look at until after they did a thyroid scan, which was normal also. I got tired of going to doctor appointments so I never did find out anything from them. (I wouldn't take beta blockers because my normal rate is 55 to 65) I haven't had a long spell of elevated heart rate since that one time though. I am thinking that my thyroid is just touchy and whacks out once and a while. The funny thing is that I am an EMT too.. I mean also.. I am an EMT II though.. Maybe it is something we are around in the ambulance??? Maybe it IS stress..???
