Any Tips On Learning The Anatomy Of The Heart?

Written by admin on November 22, 2009

I am starting to learn the heart and I was wondering if anyone had any helpful tips that helped them personally learn it. I also need to know the blood flow through the heart. Websites are welcome too… thanks a bunch :)

I’d say to learn the blood flow first. It’s a little confusing, but once you understand that, the anatomy will naturally fall into place. If you can get your hands on a model of the heart (maybe in your lab), that would be the best way to understand its anatomy and function.

1)Do a mind map of the heart, put as many drawings are possible while you are memorizing you need some memory techniques, you need to make full use of your right and left brain. Left brain is logical thinking while right brain need some creativity to be activated.
2)Buy a heart model and try to label all the parts of the heart like superior vena cava, inferior vena cava, aeorta, semi-lunar valves etc.
3)Read beyond your teacher teach/ textbook/ reference book. Check the anatomy of the heart on the internet. A good website will be:www.wikipedia.org

I found making a lot of drawings, with labels helps. If you can find one, heart models are also useful.
